Hi Yenerich:
I'm sort of the newbie around here, but I've been marketing on the Internet since it was
called Arpanet, and the only place you could post something for sale was at a local BBS.
Here's something that might help you out:
Keep your site attractive - nobody wants to pick thru garbage looking for a pearl.
Don't "over-do" it on the flashing, blinking, swirling - and DON'T use banners - people
HATE banners - they've always been useless....
Sell something people can use - you might be the greatest string collector with the most
AMAZING connections to string and string supplies, but how many people will
that attract ??
FORGET about "Niche" - that's a LOSERS BET - if what you have to offer isn't selling -
you're up the proverbial creek without the proverbial paddle.... or a paycheck
START OUT selling something they can download IMMEDIATELY - like an electronic
eBook (PDF) - and don't be afraid to give away things to get paying customers -
"FREE" goes a l o n g way to attracting clicks -
Keep up with the competition - even if they're selling something you're selling - if it's a better
price, and you're not popular yet - you'd better at least match their price
One good way to attract customers for something that's selling at the same price all over the
Internet is to give away some of those "freebies" i just mentioned (above) - the better quality
product won't always mean people will come running to your site - if there's another product
out there that does somethin similar, and it's cheaper - people can't tell that just by looking at
the picture - they'll go for the lower price every time....
Sell a slightly less quality product at great prices just to get your wares out there, and use the
product to do some verticle marketing - like including in your URL in the eBook, or mentioning
there's a "Part Two" or adding Links inside the product (either as a link or as a typed in
message) - USE that product to promote your NEXT PRODUCT
That's true "verticle marketing"....
I don't mean sell something that's put togeather cheap just to get the purchase -
that may backfire on you -
I mean you should hold back part of it, so you can offer them more in the "next one"....
And, whatever you do - BE HONEST with your customers - just like in the Virtual World - word gets around....
And, of course, I saved tthe most important for last:
WHATEVER YOU DO - DON'T GIVE UP YOUR "LIST" -
IT'S YOUR PAYCHECK YOU'LL BE GIVING AWAY....
I'll write more on that later - just DON'T DO IT
HTH - Bishop Paul....
