I've had this site going for the last couple of years:

www.telephonenglish.com

and I have just noticed that a copy has just sprung up here:

three 'w' shindig-jp dot com (don't want any trackbacks to this message)

As you will see, it's a replica which has stolen vast amounts of text, images and even staff names!

My site is hardly big business, and is probably only useful for the CV, so I cannot afford a lawyer. Any idea how I can nail the cyber-thief?

Take a look at this:

http://whois.domaintools.com/shindig-jp.com

You will see the domain is from godaddy.com and host is freewebs.com.

I am not sure if this will work but you can contact contact the hosting providers and complain about copyright infringement or anything that relates to your problem.

I read before that most webhost will boot out sites like this after a complaint is made. If they wont, at least they will force the customer to change its content which seems really copied from your site. Be sure to trace the host and write them an email and complain.

Also, you should have proof that you are the original not them.

Nice work wfmk. I had an idea to ask how you are going with these freewebs, cos I had problems contacting their support some time ago, but now I see you found the right one. Please mail me contacts of that guy !
