I don't believe that FFA link pages are bad it all. I personally got many signups from FFA link Ads that I posted.
But for the links on our own site it is even better ..as we don't allow
automated messages. there are only genuine links from people who visit
our site and from our members. The links being shown on all of our member
sites. As our membership grows we are getting more an more traffic.
Why not give it a try ....its Free.

Sites will be ultimately visited by SE spiders, but you should also wave your flag whenever you update your sites. You can even mention the estimated frequency of updates in your xml site map that Google sitemap use to spider your sites.
