Some people here gave me a big scare over loosing money through fraud with PayPal. I am going to make quite a few transactions soon and I would like to know peoples experiences with PayPal. Especially those where you've lost money through fraud. Did someone log into your account? Or how did it happen?

I had a few disputes in paypal that resulted in chargebacks (there is a $25 fee that you have to pay also for each chargeback in addition to having the original payment taken out). But there has been no more than 10 of those in the 3 years that I have been using Paypal.
Paypal is one of the safest ways to accept online payments.

Most fraud occurs through phishing and stolen CCs. Never click on links in emails that appear to be from Paypal and you shouldn't have to worry about the former. The only way to really protect yourself against chargebacks is to use Paypal only with people you trust and/or with good iTrader ratings. Other than that it's just something to be wary of when conducting transactions.

The only problem I ever had was last year with three chargebacks amounting to $500. Otherwise in the last five years that I have used Paypal, I have had no problems.

p.s. Is the fee for chargebacks new? I have never been charged a fee when that happens.

Paypal is probably the safest and most widely accepted of payment transaction processors. SO I don't think you need to worry too much!

As long as you steer clear of the phishing e-mails and don't click on any of the links or input your login information on those pages, you should be fine. I haven't had a problem with Paypal yet, and I've been using them for 5+ years now.

From my experiences I can tell you that Paypal is safe. As there are countless number of people working with Paypal on a reular basis and they are from different countries across the world. There may be some issues with few people but in general they are providing solution to most people.
