I have developed a training diary for motocross racers. I sell the software on my website.

Do you have any idea of how i can make money from this software in another way than just selling it?

Can i make money from my demo in some way?

Usually demos are free and given to entice people into buying the full software. So keep it a freebie and your sales should rise.

You could sell the source code. You could release a limited demo software which displays ads in it. And just in case you were thinking about it, no ads in the full version people will stop buying immediately...

I have thought about ads. Do you have some more info about ads in software?

The problem with ads in software is that they most usually are spyware. I don't think traditional web advertising methods will work well because it would probably be against most ad networks TOS to put them into a non-web environment.

If you wanted to include banners or the like you would probably have to sell the space yourself.

I had seen some installers include a google toolbar option. Perhaps you might want to consider that.

Yes, do this if you want people to consider not buying your software again. Look here, fact of the matter is, if your software only does little tasks then you can't request a lot for it, especially if there is already a comparable freeware version. Now if it was freeware and you offered a google toolbar option I could understand, but if I am paying for the product it should not even be considered by the developer to implement this. Seriously, what kind of software are you trying to sell? Because it sounds like you believe you should be making more profit.

EDIT: read your post again and your diary thing sounds like they could just use notepad or the likes.
