and how do u get exclusive content anyway?
whats a good way to do that other than writing them yourself?

Really cools sites like www.quirksmode.com do make (some) money. And if you have really cool articles, you can get some book deals.

I think that those sires get money from ads and as far as I know some of them provide paid submition.

They make money, I run something similar in a on line magazine. But it takes a lot to get the ball rolling. Best thing to do is alert people in forums about it. Forums normally have several thousand people in them and its a great way to spread the word.

Also, think of all the content articles provide for the search engines. They can sure help bring people to your site, so that you have a chance to make money.
I to would like to know more about options on where to get good articles.

The only thing is that if its not orig content and not just duplicated from around the net it wont be as powerful.

Then you did it correctly, thats not to say the same article in different places is not at all beneficial. Just not as much as fresh content.

Article directories do make money which is mainly from contextual advertising and textlink placements. In most case the presented content is non-original, but one can present it along with other relevant information to somewhat freshen it up for SEs. Services likes isnare etc provide articles in bulk to feed these hungry beasts.

We have run an article directory for over 13 months now and it has over 115,000 articles - http://www.articlesnatch.com

During the course of the last 13 months I've learned a whole lot - and yes you can make money running one.

We have articles that come in from various sources, manual submission from authors, submission software and submission services.

The number of pages that is cached in google at anytime will vary based on google factors - however - the website receives a steady stream of traffic from google, yahoo and other search engines.

For the authors - not only can they get traffic - when people read their article - but a lot of the articles are picked up by other sites and passed around some more.

They can make money, my experience with them have been decent, but they can make some money if you put the time and effort into them.

Not completely sure about your submissions question, but I'm fairly sure article sites do make a good amount (for making money by only designing a site and letting it sit there). Why? Because first off people aren't going to care if you have a crappy website, or if you have a broken link here and there, all they care about is if they have the information they want. Then you put a Google ad up and it will be related to the article. Say someone wants to know what the best kind of snowboard is. An article is there and the company that owns a website that makes that snowboard is shown on a Google ad. The user will much more likely click on it because it will be related. This is in some way the same for everyone, but most other sites are limited to one subject (besides forums, and ebay, etc.) while article sites have hundreds of thousands of different subjects, and in turn have a wide "target market" so in the end anyone with an internet connection can be a user and make the article site money compared to just someone that wants a snowboard. I've opened up an article site and I can already see after 2 weeks it will be a good investment.

I'd say if you're thinking of starting an article site these days, it's best to
go for a very tight niche instead of just a general directory.

Having tons of content on a particular topic can quickly build your site into
an authority on your niche, which brings lots of perks.

I would guess they make their money from advertising. As for getting original content, it's important that the information in an article is good, but its even more important that it is written well and easy to understand. You could write it yourself, but hiring a writer might be a better way to go, since it provides insight from a person who is unattached to your website.
