im starting a site where people can buy a one time membership fee, using a link to paypal, where they can also use their credit cards. My question is once they make a paymet, what would be the best way for them to get their user name and password, the only idea i have so far is email, but that creates such a time gap before they can access the members area.

Once they pay, you could have a thank you script generate the email as well as present them with a page containing the user name/password combination. That way, you avoid the time delay and you still send them an email confirmation.

The free way to it is to put the restricted content in a sub directory, use htacess to password protect it and give everyone the same usename and password.

I have a scripted solution that allows for unique usename and passwords for sale on one of my sites. You can PM me if you would like the URL

you can have a script that generates a login and password or whatever, then when they pay it redirects to a .txt file that was created that has their info...its possible with paypal, its electronic transaction or something, they do it on ebay
