Has anyone research the best company with the lowest rates for accepting credit cards with the perception that our website is completing the transaction? (Not Paypal)

We use Payflow Pro from Verisign. But beware, they sold out to Paypal so now paypal actually owns the Payflow Systems from Verisign. It is fairly inexpensive and of course Verisign is a trusted brand which is very important when you are trying to convince unconventional web users to give you their credit card information. No offense to other posts, but I only give my credit card to websites who use CC gateways which I have heard of. Call me crazy.

Many of our clients use both Paypal and an online gateway which works very well...

Agreed with Shoptistic. I found out that most european customers prefer moneybookers.com instead of paypal. But a number of people in U.S. have troubles with Moneybookers.com and prefers Paypal.

Selecting a merchant account also depends on what type of business you're planning to do. For example, if you want to provide services, ex. tourist booking package, you cannot use 2checkout.com. 2checkout.com acts as a reseller, and they won't accept businesses that provides services. So make sure you check their tos.

So far people love to use Paypal, 2checkout and moneybookers as far as i checked. for worldpay, you need to pay a registration fee, a couple of hundred. My company is currently using the service since our country isn't too friendly with Paypal.
