Hey all,

I'm new here. I just started building my business and I am not ready at the moment to hire a full time lawyer, however I am trying to establish a team that can help me execute my project.

I want to be sure that legally, I have all my rights and ideas protected. I looked online for confidentiality forms that I can purchase, but some of them do not even give me an example of how it looks or sounds.

I want to make sure that it's written correctly, and since i'm no lawyer I probably would miss a few points.

Are legal forms online scams and should I just hire a lawyer at this time, although it's too early to even put them to good use or should it be okay for me to purchase a confidentiality form online?

Any insight on this is appreciated!

Not knowing where you live and not knowing if 'online' is a requirement, I'd suggest running down to your local business supply store and see what they've got. I was in Staples a few weeks back and I'm pretty sure that they had a software package with all sorts of legal forms in it.

It might be better to do that than trying to find a legitimate service online.

^ they aren't free there, and the most you can get for free is a preview, which is not too bad.

Try this site: http://www.ilrg.com/forms/ <- they offer forms for free, but you might want to ask in some sort of legal forum if it's good enough or not.

Hi Lisa,

I have just what you need

I've done all this for my project (www.splashplay.co.uk) and understand exactly what you're asking.

Firstly, which country are you from?

Secondly, you need a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) for people to sign when you go to meetings. if you PM me and buy me a nice present i may send you my NDA

Thirdly, you need to send a letter of enquiry listing what work you want done to the company/people you want to contract and they send you a quote. You then send back a purchase order and they send you a proforma invoice. Suggest paying 50% upfront and rest on delivery, trust me, don't pay in full, you'll regret it. Again, if you PM me and offer to take me out to dinner i can send you the templates for each of these stages i use myself.

I understand how difficult it is to find these on the web and i have created my own with time and experience.

If you want further protection, file a provisional patent for about £100 and this gives you a priority date, but gets INCREDIBLY expensive after that, depending on what you want.
