I do some freelance web site design and its starting to get a little traction and I thought it might be time to put a web site together. I eventually want to expand to logo and banner design and maybe even print. So I was thinking about domains to use, and I had a few set aside but I am having trouble picking the right one.

So I am just looking for some thoughts about what I should use. Feel free to vote or leave any comments or suggestions.

Yeah, but there is something to be said for simplicity. Plus I think design will help the site rank for SEO.

If you have suggestions fire away, thats why I'm asking.

I'm not a huge fan of "my"... so that kinda rules them all out. I understand that it's hard to find any half-decent domain though!

Out of what you've suggested, I'd probably lean towards mynetdesign.com (which is how I'm voting).

"netdesign.com" - ND
"nextdesign.com" - ND
"xdesign.com" - XD
"cdesign.com" - CD (company design / design for your company)
"tonydesign.com" -TD

I really do not think any of them are good. I would stray away from the word "my". It makes me feel that its all about you, but in reality its all about who you do the work for, your customers! Just my .02 cents!

the whole concept of my is when someone talks about it they say My Net Design - it makes it personal. There is a bit more to it, but that is the gist of it. Think about it that way.

In general I don't like MY in front of the name you really want. Usually this is a suggestion from the hosting site you used to look for a name. Finding a name can be really really hard. I tried about 75 different names before I found the one I could accept. Make a long long list of names you are willing to work under, and hit a hosting site.

Go with mynetdesign.com.

Despite opinions to the contrary above, I quite like having 'my..' at the start of a domain name. Hey if it works for Myspace so successfully, then there is no reason that my should be any hinderance...rather a positive...
