I run http://www.forms4free.com, which helps people build an HTML form/web form and get the formmail file, and I am looking to find ways to increase my link popularity. I currently have approximately 3,000 inbound links. Other than link exchange, writing articles, submitting press releases, and services link Blogitive, are there any other ways?

Unless you pay for SEO services, I don't think so. Do you include a link to yourself in the front-end formfile that you generate for your users?

Create a blog for your site and start posting using trackbacks to other blogs.

I found a place called http://www.ChangingLinks.com where I have been able to exchange links with other websites. I'm just getting started getting links, and besides a few post in forums and an article I wrote for an online magazine, these are the only reciprocal links I have. I have 29 from this. The instructions on how to use this website, to get the most out of it, are somewhat vague, but I have 29 links I didn't have before. It has done absolutely nothing for my page rank, but, I'm guessing that I need a whole lot more more than 29 links to improve my page rank. Out of the 29 links, 18 are page rank 2 or above.

It makes sense 29 links hasn't increased your PageRank; for one thing, Google only publishes PR data to the outside world a few times a year. You could get a million links overnight, and then still wait months to see their effect on the Google Toolbar.

Also, the real PR system, the internal one that's always being updated, is a little more complex than just counting the number of links. For example, you mentioned a little more than half the links you acquired have PR 2 or more; how much PR a page has helps determine how much it can spread, but also, the more links on that page, the less mojo each of them carries.

Finally, reciprocal links have been pretty much devalued. If you can get one-way links, those are much better. And of course you want the anchor text of the link to be something that people will search for. You can find a LOT more tips in the SEO forum here.

And you can get free links, although not always very high quality ones, in the "Submit to my Directory" forum on this site.

Guys don't forget. One quality relevant link is a whole lot more powerful than 1000 non-relevant links.

I have seen heated discussions where it was simply a discussion on if a non-relevant link hurts you more than helping.

So the big key is to utilize articles, blogs, forum postings, to gain one way links from relevant sources to your site content. Two way exchanges are frowned upon in my experience.
