Oscommerce is an easy fast way to go. Just be sure to add ssl- requires didicated IP.

A good hosting company helps. Your store is open 24/7. Down time is expensive.

The SSL is important but you don't need those $800 a year SSL's. If you're starting out, you can get the cheap ones.

OSCommerce works well, Zencart might be easier to learn but both are really easy.
