Are you a freelancer in Great Britain, USA, Australia, or Canada? Tired of freelance bidding sites and competing for cheap clients?

Want to find local clients who will pay you local rates?

Then check out FreelanceLocalTech.com, a FREE directory of freelance consultants in USA, Canada, Australia... and we just added Great Britain!

Freelancers post information about their services in the directory. Clients come to the site and browse or search the directory looking for local talent to fill their business needs. No bidding. No middle-man taking a cut of the project. No faceless consultants working for faceless clients.

Want to get started? Just click the link, and create a freelancer listing. All listings require approval to ensure quality. Best of all: it's FREE. Once approved, your listing will appear in all cities within 30 miles of your location for all categories of services you offer.

BONUS! We're giving all GB-based freelancers with an approved listing an automatic 2-month 60-mile territory upgrade. The larger territory means more clients will see your listing, because it will appear in more cities near you. This offer expires on December 31, 2007.

Instead of hunting for clients and bidding against cheap competition, make sure that local clients will find you on FreelanceLocalTech.com.

To those of you who clicked the link and stopped by but didn't see any GB cities: the database issue has been corrected and the site is fully operational again. Please accept my sincerest apologies for the inconvenience.

I am a UK freelancer based in Tenerife, as such my rates are extremely competative and I work for clients in the UK and locally. However, would I be able to place a listing on your site as I am able to bill in any currency (as the client and rates dictate)...?

One minor glitch I found on your site you may like to remed:

If I use the following page:
http://www.freelancelocaltech.com/cat2/gb-eng/

Why does it display areas with "No" contractors available...? Surely this is a simple matter to fix.

@Harlequin: Sorry for delay in responding... for some reason, the thread didn't notify me of your posting.

You can place a UK-based listing on the site if you are based in the UK or have a UK phone number and UK mailing address (we do check these things for our listings to ensure we're getting consultants with a local presence).

As for the "glitch", cities without listings show as normal text, but if there's a listing, it'll show as bold. It's not a glitch to show all the cities we cover in England. Since we just launched GB at the beginning of the month, we haven't had a web developer sign up yet.

And we're going to keep adding countries every two months or so (I think Ireland will come next, possibly followed by India). We don't have the Canary Islands on our radar yet, sorry.

Hi FreelanceMan

The glitch is still there mate, sorry to dissapoint.

I'm interested in registering when you open up to other european areas but if I place myself alongside other UK freelancers with rates as low as 25€ I simply won't be taken seriously, it's only when people know I'm offshore they realise the rates are comparative to my cost of living out here.

What glitch, exactly? The link you included displays all cities in England with populations over 10,000. Clicking on one of the cities should take you to a page that shows any registered web developers in that city (as of this morning, no web developers have registered yet, but we've only had that country online for 10 days now).

Do this: in the Get Help page, there's a link to e-mail me a screen shot of what you're seeing and let me know what you expected to see. I'm not seeing anything that resembles a glitch at this time, but maybe I'm not doing what you're doing to create the problem.

Thanks. As for adding other European countries, that will also come next year. Right now, I would say we have the top four countries in terms of freelancers, but we have about 80 more countries to add as we get their geocoded postal code info.

If you market yourself in UK, I recommend getting a VOIP-based UK phone number and publishing that to make yourself look more local.

True, there are LOTS of countries with lots of freelancers, but given the way the site is designed (using geocoded postal codes to find the cities closest to your location), it's pretty labor-intensive to add a new country. We'll get to all of them in time.

Thanks for stopping by and we'll post notices as we add more countries. For now: it's USA, Canada, Australia, and Great Britain.
