Hello Everyone,

I subscribed for a 3 month membership to boxedart , they renewed my subscription automatically without any notices at all and deducted the money from my paypal account, I emailed them right after and told them I had not authorized another 3 months nor have I used it and they refused to refund me back clearly saying its too late. This is the exact reason they only provide paypal subscription options so that they can charge people, all comapnies who renew subscriptions automatically without notifications are thiefs, even cell phone companies dont do that now a days. Stay away from them as their products qualities are very low as well.

Thank you

First of all, you subscribed to a template site. If you can't come up with an original template by yourself, then you shouldn't be in the web design game. It doesn't have to be as flashy or pretty as the ones on a site like boxedart (most of which are badly coded and unoptimized, if not all of them), but it should represent whatever company you built the site for. So that's your first mistake.

Second, they say in their ToS that renewals are non-refundable.
Quote:
REFUNDS: Once You have downloaded an item from BoxedArt.com we cannot offer a refund, which You are held responsible for understanding upon Your order with BoxedArt.com. The reason for this policy is because we offer intangible irrevocable digital Products and as such, there is no way for our Products to be returned. As such, all license fees are non-refundable, including all renewal purchases, automatic or otherwise, where Products have been previously downloaded, and Your payment for a BoxedArt.com Product indicates Your acceptance of this provision.

As far as renewing itself goes:
Quote:
3-8 Will my BoxedArt subscription renew automatically?
This will depend on how you set your subscription up when you join BoxedArt, however if you choose a renewing subscription, then this can be cancelled from recurring at any time. First, a credit card transaction will never automatically renew. However if you select a paypal subscription and would like to later cancel the subscription before it rebills, you can do so by following these instructions:

Simply log into paypal.com, and click on the “all activity” link. Next, from the drop down box labeled “show”, select “subscriptions”. Choose a large enough date range to back at least as far as your original purchase, and then click search. Once the search results appear, click on the subscription details, and then on the cancel button within the subscription details. That’s all you need to do to cancel your paypal subscription prior to your expiration date before it renews at the end of your term. If you have created a subscription that has renewed because it was not cancelled before the end of a term, then this cannot be refunded.

This seems awkward to me, but there is a way to cancel auto-renewing.

If you want to try and get it back, your one shot would be to go through PayPal. They quite often take the side of the customer over the merchant. Mind you, if they think you've screwed up in some way, then caveat emptor and all that.
