No, it's not really "sixlife" but this is a family friendly site. Remember that poll way back when about how old people are? Lots of young'uns 'round here. So I changed an e into an i.

When I search for some of the titles to my more recent blogs (mainly when someone posts something in the SEO forums about rank checking, that needs to be corrected), they come up and I don't. Either Google doesn't know about my blog's new posts, or this site grabbed them and beat me to the punch, so mine are duplicate?

This search shows what I'm talking about. I wrote a blog post I'm really proud of called "C-Rap vs Hip Hop (America’s Grassroots Political Voice)" but Couple Sixlife is the only thing that comes up for the search. My blog post deals with social inequity, Michael Vick and DMX with their dogs, the proliferation of fake gangster rap and how this is a perversion of the pure hip hop of the late 70s and early 80s, that still exists today, but not on MTV. Really it's one of my better posts.

I'm asking here instead of the Google forum because it's not an SEO question. I know I haven't done any SEO so Google probably doesn't think too much of my blog. What I don't understand is what this other site is, why it's reading my blog, and how they rank for my post titles when I don't see them on the page anywhere?

Or even a step further - it seems like I tripped over a landmine on the information superhighway. What other road hazards should I know about?

"They're bigger". I know that's simplistic, but much of their ranking stems from the sheer volume of content that they have and, in all likelihood, that they've done just enough SEO to get their stuff indexed before yours (I've noticed that, in Google's eyes, this is a tiebreak factor when it pertains to duplicate content.)

This is one of the reasons why I use the  tag from WordPress. It splits the post up, thus helping to ensure that I have at least <em>some</em> duplicate content.

The other thing that I do is post directly to Google Blogsearch...they index stuff immediately and thus I end up being the creator in big G's eyes.

In other words, two of the reasons they outrank you is because they're bigger and got there first in big G's eyes.

Well...it's used within WordPress to "break up" a post into a teaser and a full post.

You'll notice how on my blog I use the first couple of paragraphs, followed by a "Read the rest of this entry" part. The  tag is the divider between the teaser and the rest of the entry.

It's also used within the WordPress RSS feed dealy to split the post up the same way. Since your six-crazed pirvirts seem to be drawing from your feed, this should stop them (or at least slow them down a little bit.)

If you haven't made any changes to the user interface, there's a button on the right edge of the toolbar that looks like a page cut in half, horizontally.

You might want to drop a link back to your page above the fold, so if people are grabbing your RSS feed and sending it to the search engines, you'll at least be giving yourself a link from these "pirvirts."

Or do a whois, and ban their IP address from your site?
