My first year of college I had a professor tell us to code up a linked list from scratch in java. I kept getting NullPointerExceptions because I didn't realize my code was moving my head reference to each new node as it was added. I ended up spending about 8 hours in the lab trying to figrue that one out.

There have been times when I've had a specific project under deadline that I've spent most of my waking hours finishing it, but I lose my sense of time under those circumstances and couldn't tell you how long I spent.
BTW, Whym, have you recently been completing schu a projest?  |

I worked a 36 hour shift once. I didn't spend it all at the computer in one sitting, but in a small IT group, I did pass too much time that way.

36 hours?! That's insane! I wish I could change my vote on this - I'd say 12 to 14 hours probably rather than the 10 to 12 I voted for. |

But as for me, I don't remember. I know it was standard practice for me to stay on the comp all day at one point. Sometimes I'd go without sleep to readjust my sleeping pattern so I'm assuming my record is 48 hours + |

Less than 8 hours for me. I have a 3 year old so spending all day isn't possible for me at all. She gets rather upset.  I tell her if she wants me to buy her things, then I have to work to make money. LOL |

Very, very insane! On the other hand, I made enough to buy a used car. The company hired someone to implement and manage their business intelligence, and he got in over his head. The inventory reports were wrong and cost the place a couple million dollars in one fell swoop, so they hired a team of us to come in and fix things asap.
I learned to get every detail available about an IT project before taking it.
Even in Seattle, I must have set some kind of record for espresso consumption. |

Last weekend I spent 10 hours playing COD3 on my xbox 360 and then before that, I was at work 8 hours.
When I was at college I would normally spend around 12-18 hours a day on the computer during the week days, and then on the weekends around 18-20 in one sitting. I think my record was around 36 hours, and that was playing Civ3

I picked 12-14, though it is highly likely that I have spent more than 14. Not all at one time though...but probably within a 24 hour period.
