IE 8 is getting late

I guess that's because FireFox hasn't put out any new ideas to steal lately. But after they made us wait like 20 years between MS IE 6 and 7, they put their tail between their legs and said they'd be producing a new Internet Destroyer every 18 months or so, 2 years tops. It's been more than a year and there hasn't even been mention of MS IE 8.
Do you want to see one? Do you care? Would you ever use it?
What would you like to see them add?

I am shocked by the amount of people still using IE6. I wish that I could make IE6 magically disappear.
I'm not sure that Microsoft should release a new browser for a while. That will just be one more browser to test and to make sure everything works right in.

Do I want to see one? Yes, but not for CSS support reasons...for reasons of usability. I hate that they don't allow the Menu Bar to appear at the top (among other things).
Do I care? Not as much as I would have 3 months ago, but I guess so.
Would I use it? Yes, but only because every other browser out there is useless to me, and all are just about equally responsible for CSS errors, contrary to published opinion. No, I'm not on the FF bandwagon and probably never will be.

What are they going to put into it...? I can see a few minor changes, like the way they moved all the buttons around, and vanished the menu ... although that doesn't bother me, I like the extra space. All of that together doesn't justify a new version ... more like 7.1?

Martin, just a word of advice, but you might want to keep your mouth shut about that shameful secret around web designers, lest you find yourself strung up from the nearest tree.
That's a joke, I would hope it would be obvious enough but people haven't noticed that before. It's just that IE 6 sort of invented a new meaning for each html tag, so designers hate it, and wish everybody in the world would stop using it.
Oh, and I can't believe Adam doesn't use FireFox. Surely that must be a typo.

It probably has something to do with our climate.
I’m not using FF too.
Actually I use it only if I need to check pages proper alignment.

Given how dismal each new IE release has been, perhaps they should name IE 8
The Vista Cruiser!!!

Personally I don't care about when IE8 comes out - I'd guess a couple of years, maybe 6 or 12 months before Vienna/whatever Microsoft are calling their next version of Windows, after Vista. That's what they did with IE7 and Vista.
As long as it's standards compliant, and maybe a little more so than IE7, I'll be happy. I'd like to see more people adopting Firefox and IE7 now though and abandoning stupid IE6. I can hardly express how much I despise that browser!

You maybe right but more than 90% of users still have Win98 or ME and
because M$ never bother to build IE7 for them, like it or not IE6 will be
around for the very long time

Where on earth did you get those figures?!
I don't know what the case is where you are (Canada?) but here in the UK, 80 or 90% of people are using XP or Vista.

http://www.vistaultimate.com/windows...opies-sold/77/
1 month ago they sold only 88 million copies.
Compare that to total amount of PC sold and my 90% should look
more like 98%

God i completely agree ie7 should have been a FORced download when it first came out SO much better than ie6 which is just complete bull.. IE7 is my prefrence, i find it nicer than firefox which while i like it annouys me.
What are you on about with the menu bar? just press ALT it appears and u can push alt and it goes.. nice n simple, and makes it so much better
And what the hell your still on 98?!!?!?!?!?! JEEEZE DUDE i mean hold old is your pc?! get XP at the very least!!
other wise you cant even talk about ms when your still using that! Lol.
