Maybe this belongs in the blogging forum because this particular spam is specific to my blog. But spam is something everybody in the world is familiar with, so I figured I'd ask in here.
Why the heck would somebody choose the text in the title of this post to go spamming with? Wouldn't you think they could type in something a little more creative, just once, and then get a better click through by enticing people somehow?
We had another thread about whether it's possible for spammers to get anything but drool on their IQ test (I like that one) but I think the average spammer probably scrapes their knuckles when they walk?

I think you just answered your own question
They're probably getting either too lazy or they're just too dumb too think of anything else creative. It's like the Nokia, Ipod spammers I've seen around here lately. Do they actually think someone is going to purchase one through a spam form?
It couldn't be more obvious that it's spam. It's like holding a sign above your head that says "Please delete and ban me now".

I've seen something even lazier as of late. I'd explain what it is but 1) I'm saving it for Saturday's blog post and 2) I don't know if anyone would believe me.

I think creative spammer is an oxymoron. Spam in itself is a non-creative solution to a problem talanted people get paid lots of money to solve properly.
Another sad thing is that some companies are teaching their affiliates or referrers to just search for forums and post their spam there. They don't care if they get banned if one person looks at their link or it's there for any amount of time.
I've seen written instructions about how to search for forums and post your spam. Of course, the instructions didn't call it spam. They were teaching people how to get the word out on their fantastic product and thousands would read it and just be breaking down the virtual doors to buy whatever it is.
That's sad ... but maybe we just learned why this is so popular? A lot of my blog spam is done by a robot, but I wouldn't be surprised if those written instructions you saw were somehow aimed at people who haven't really used the internet, and don't know any better...?

I guess this describes the spammers of low intelligence. I wonder how much these people actually make. Of course it varies, but the posters can't be making very much. The people putting them up to it and running the show may be making some good dough.
