I don't know about you but this is what Gibson Research site test said about my PC

Your system ignored and refused to reply to repeated Pings (ICMP Echo Requests). From the standpoint of the passing probes of any hacker, this machine does not exist on the Internet. I just bought a laptop, and the previous owner won't take my money until I'm sure I'm happy with the system. It sounds like this is more of a network security than performance test...? Still, sounds interesting.

When I visit that address, I get a warning telling me that the browser reload thing is a security hole. I'm using XP MCE 2005 and Firefox 2.0.0.8 right now (it never seems to update properly!)

Here is how to check your PC

Go to this site and click 'Proceed' button
On the next page select 'All Service Ports' button located in "ShieldsUP!! Service" Box
Wait for test results

Overall its going good right now.. Result for file sharing:

Your Internet port 139 does not appear to exist!
One or more ports on this system are operating in FULL STEALTH MODE! Standard Internet behavior requires port connection attempts to be answered with a success or refusal response. Therefore, only an attempt to connect to a nonexistent computer results in no response of either kind. But YOUR computer has DELIBERATELY CHOSEN NOT TO RESPOND (that's very cool!) which represents advanced computer and port stealthing capabilities. A machine configured in this fashion is well hardened to Internet NetBIOS attack and intrusion.

Unable to connect with NetBIOS to your computer.
All attempts to get any information from your computer have FAILED. (This is very uncommon for a Windows networking-based PC.) Relative to vulnerabilities from Windows networking.
Common port
Your system has achieved a perfect "TruStealth" rating. Not a single packet — solicited or otherwise — was received from your system as a result of our security probing tests. Your system ignored and refused to reply to repeated Pings (ICMP Echo Requests). From the standpoint of the passing probes of any hacker, this machine does not exist on the Internet. Some questionable personal security systems expose their users by attempting to "counter-probe the prober", thus revealing themselves. But your system wisely remained silent in every way. Very nice.

I had open ports, but it's alright, as I voluntarily opened them from my router.
This tool might be useful to educate someone to computer security, but I don't trust them for more that that.

Reading that having an SSH port opened to the outside world is a threat, really, is something that anyone a bit conscious of computer security knows.
And if he puts an "admin" password for his root account, he cannot blame anyone else.

After all, the only method for a computer to be 100% secure against any threat, is to never connect it to any network, and to never use/open files that where not created on the same computer.
It's just as surrealists today as to imagine that we could drive a car being 100% risk free.

You start your engine, you take risks...
You connect to the net, you take risks too.

Yes tripy, I agree that guy is over cautious never the less it's good to know the state of your PC
mostly when you're online 24 hours visiting sites that you wouldn't sent your worst enemies to visit.

At least test give you some idea and make you aware about how much you are playing with fire.

I think FastReplies was talking about the guy behind the testing web site, not you...

It kept saying FireFox couldn't find the server for a couple times, but then it finally came up.

Solicited TCP Packets: RECEIVED (FAILED) — As detailed in the port report below, one or more of your system's ports actively responded to our deliberate attempts to establish a connection. It is generally possible to increase your system's security by hiding it from the probes of potentially hostile hackers. Please see the details presented by the specific port links below, as well as the various resources on this site, and in our extremely helpful and active user community.

Unsolicited Packets: PASSED — No Internet packets of any sort were received from your system as a side-effect of our attempts to elicit some response from any of the ports listed above. Some questionable personal security systems expose their users by attempting to "counter-probe the prober", thus revealing themselves. But your system remained wisely silent. (Except for the fact that not all of its ports are completely stealthed as shown below.)

Ping Echo: PASSED — Your system ignored and refused to reply to repeated Pings (ICMP Echo Requests) from our server.

I'm on my PC now (Windows sadly) and I've just discovered that it wasn't me, but the OS that stopped me from loading that page. I opened it several days ago in Firefox on my Mac and it gave me an error message saying something about Firefox reloading the page. Now I'm on my PC, the test works. Anyway...

Here's my results:

Common and all service ports test:

The MSN spam test brought up nothing as did the file sharing one.

I'm using Comodo firewall Pro (which is actually free). Pretty cool if you ask me
