Amoxicillan (sp?) might do the trick.
I have my wisdom teeth. I have a tendency to get infections in one of them really bad. I have even wound up in the ER because of it. They told me that in order to have it removed the one next to it will have to go as well. I am 29 and would prefer to have all my teeth as well. So, in avoidance of having them removed, they give me Amoxicillian and Vicodin until the infection goes away. Both are very inexpensive and do the trick every time. Vicodin is for the pain, whichever pain medicine you prefer would probably be fine, but you probably will need some once the infection starts kicking loose.

Couldnt agree more, i think my fear of dentists tend to control my situation more lol. Its not so much that i dont want to have them removed just horrified of the pain and tools used during the procedure

Thanks for the help I will try to get a perscription It would cost 3000 to get a replacment tooth a rip off. If the tooth gets to bad I will have it taken out and go to mainland europe to get one for 600 big difference in the price did you ever get a quote on the price of a replacment?

Ask them point blank in very close to these exact words "Is there nothing that can be done to save the tooth?"

I cracked my tooth years ago and it got infected. That's more painful than giving birth, at least that's what my female dentist said. Not just any infection, but your mouth is a very dirty place, so it can turn to an abscess. Remember the scene in that Tom Hanks movie where he breaks his own tooth off with an ice skate? You'd happily do that. So don't let it get to that point.

Back to why you should ask. They were going to pull the tooth. Even gave me some resistance when I didn't want that. So eventually they said maybe they can save the tooth with a root canal. Maybe went really well, they told the oral surgeon it was an emergency, got me in the next morning, and I was in the chair for 2 or 3 hours. Half of my tooth is fake, the part on the inside, but the part you'd see when I smile is my real tooth, just with some reinforcements behind it.

It cost a lot more, and it hurt like hell. But I didn't want to be missing my teeth either. They didn't tell me about there are other options until I asked, and all these years later, I'm glad it worked out that way. The pain is gone, but every time I look in the mirror, well, you know. So I'm thinking just because they didn't tell you doesn't mean there's nothing else they can do.
