If I knew everything, and sometimes I do, I would make sure that everyone understood the absolute need for World peace, and I would make every effort to make this a reality. We must strive and maintain peace within ourselves, our communities and the global community. With commitment to these three, we can realistically achieve lasting peace. I would help the World to become a better place.

I was thinking I'd sell information, but that seemed like a bad idea as, just because you know it all, doesn't mean people will believe you know it all, and therefore pay for your information. And besides, nobody likes a self proclaimed know it all.
Instead, I'd use my knowledge to play the stock market, currency markets, and international real estate markets. I'd quickly become the wealthiest person on the planet, since I know everything, so I would take my money and become a philanthropist.

I'd do my best to forget it, or I'll end up killing myself in despair...
Some knowledge is good, but all knowledges would be a curse.
I've heard one day that a Greek mythological creature (I don't remember it's name) that made the wish to know everything.
Those creatures wanted to know everything on anything, and they turned to their god for that.
They where granted their which, but in a sick way. Their god gave them a third eye, and that eye let them know everything of their lives, since the moment they where born.
This including the place and the moment of their death.
There was no more surprise anymore in their life.
If anyone here know which story this is, I'd be interested to know it...
Serandfae, you surely know that (or if I'm dreaming), you seemed to me to be versed in literature from what I've read of you before.

You know, I seriously doubt this would be possible.
The problem is that there are too many personalities that would refuse it, or deny it to other for many futile or absurd reasons.
The only way to bring world wide peace, in my opinion, would be the genocide of the human race.
Not that I wish it though, and I do my best to be a model. But I realize that I'm far away of being one.
We are just way to individualist and obsessed with our person for that, but it's human, and that's the point.

The same thing I do every night, Pinky...TRY TO TAKE OVER THE WORLD!
Honestly, I don't know what I'd do. I'd probably try to help others, but really make a conscious effort to pick and choose my spots. I wouldn't help anyone and everyone, because not everyone would pay it forward, never mind return the favor. So I'd probably help a select few and that would be it.

Write "the World's best ebook", only $999,999 a download and become the richest guy on Earth, surpassing Bill Gates!
Seriously though, I have no idea. I don't think I'd want to know *everything* - some things would be interesting or just OK but other things would make you sick and as Tripy said, there would be no surprise in life anymore. I think my brain would probably explode too - there isn't space in there to know everything that can possibly be known about everything. It's pretty full up already

Noble but why not to teach others how to make money and let them to become “rich” on their own?

Gambler, eh. The reason people gamble is to get that moment of drug to raise their adrenalin level in between bet and final score moment. What good would it do for you if you already know that you are going to win and even how much?

Two words: girls, alcohol. The last one is optional
If I knew everything, I would do like cbwm and make a lot of money. I would also develop the technologies such as nanotechnology, medical, and environmental to make this world a better place.

The minute everyone was rich, no one would be. Beautiful idea, but impossible. I think the focus of my philanthropy would be education and free markets. Education, coupled with free markets would put a big dent in many of the world's problems.
On the free market side, I think I would have to use my immense wealth to destabilize regimes which are hostile to their citizens and free markets, in hopes of regime change. I could also use the wealth to buy influence in the policy of first world nations, thus wielding power from within, and without. Since I would know everything, I would be able to Democratize effectively.
Off topic, it is pretty easy to get rich teaching people how to get rich. ****, selling any vice has always been profitable(in this case greed).

That implies that the others peoples are ready to follow everything I'd say by the letter.
And I'm sure most would not!
So, even if I know how to solve the situation, I cannot do anything on my own, and letting peoples free will would mean letting them kill themselves.
So, what would I do then ?
Become a despot and force them to follow my orders ?
Just to let you think about it, and to take a close example, remember that it's exactly what Saddam Hussein did.
He ruled a country of several different tribes by keeping them straight under his orders.

Quote:

As president, Saddam maintained power through the Iran-Iraq War (1980-1988) and the first Persian Gulf War (1991). During these conflicts, Saddam repressed movements he deemed threatening to the stability of Iraq, particularly Shi'a and Kurdish movements seeking to overthrow the government or gain independence, respectively.
|
Quote:
In the late 1960s and early 1970s, as vice chairman of the Revolutionary Command Council, formally the al-Bakr's second-in-command, Saddam built a reputation as a progressive, effective politician.[17] At this time, Saddam moved up the ranks in the new government by aiding attempts to strengthen and unify the Ba'ath party and taking a leading role in addressing the country's major domestic problems and expanding the party's following.
After the Baathists took power in 1968, Saddam focused on attaining stability in a nation riddled with profound tensions. Long before Saddam, Iraq had been split along social, ethnic, religious, and economic fault lines: Sunni versus Shi'ite, Arab versus Kurd, tribal chief versus urban merchant, nomad versus peasant. (Humphreys, 78) Stable rule in a country rife with factionalism required both massive repression and the improvement of living standards. (Humphreys, 78)
|
When he was removed, every faction wanted to have their part of the cake, and it was the beginning of the problems.
Think about it...
What would be your life, if you would know how to solve everything, but followed by almost no one?
You would be a sect guru or a despot (if you decide to enforce your solutions) in the eyes of the rest of the world, that's all...

I would destroy the "free market" - certainly make sure I had enough influence to wipe out laissez-faire capitalism - one of my hates (among fascism, racism and a number of other things).
Why? Because the free market essentially doesn't work. It's actually not "free" at all - money makes more money, which in turn makes more money.... The rich become insanely rich and the poor lose out big time. Laissez-faire capitalism is a stupid and worthless ideology. We've never experienced completely unrestricted capitalism, and it's a good thing we haven't. The USA has gotten fairly close to it during the late 90s and look where that's got the country. Millions live in poverty with no health care while the top 1% have seen their incomes explode - is that justice?!
Sorry for hijacking the thread, but it's got to be said. Capitalism and the ""free"" market doesn't work that well in general and certainly doesn't benefit a sizeable percentage of the population who end up unemployed or stuck in dead end jobs, in run-down areas with appalling education.

Dan, we agree on this point. Laissez-faire capitalism is the cornerstone of the Libertarian party in the US. It's the most irrational economic system ever thought of. None of the ones I've been in contact with can answer questions about it's implementation. They can't stand regulation but when it comes to implement their "beliefs" (that's all they are is beliefs), they would have to regulate to get them achieved. For instance, they cry when cities use tax dollars as incentives to bring in a company to the city. But cities will always do so because they have to or some other city will. To them the "free" market is only supposed to be free according to their "rules.
