I'm cleaning for some company coming over later, and noticed how bitterly ironic two of the books on my shelf are. Side by side, I've got a copy of Will, by G. Gordon Liddy, and Flashbacks, by Tim Leary.
The rest of the shelf is taken up by a hundred year old railroad tie from the Iron Horse, a spindle of blank CDs and another of DVDs, a cup of highlighters and permanent markers, a stack of recent Economists. More books: The Cambridge Encyclopedia of Astronomy, Penrose's Shadows of the Mind, Zacks' An Underground Education, Hacking GPS, The Tipping Point, Darwin's Dangerous Idea, most of what Jon Krakauer wrote ... he's another Seattle star. And then way too much music to catalog.
So what does everyone else having laying around at close reach?

I'm jealous. I have had neither the time nor the storage room for books in quite some time. Either that, or we burnt them all at our last community book burning . Seriously, within easy reach I have several filing cabinets of legal documents, contracts, property plans, construction plans, with the one book being "200 Spanish Verbs" published by Barnes and Noble books.
Even my DVD and CD collection, which are still in the entertainment center, are gathering dust since all my music and movies I pull from the network at my office.

I have 64 BetaMax (everybody:: what's that?) tapes with Videos dated back to 1981
Somewhere around 240 hours of non-stop music from yesterdays and 90s when the lycrics meant something and you could actually understand the words they sang.
As for example:
that's the way aha, aha I like it aha, aha

The living room - Hubby's bobble head collection, Hubby's model motorcycles (OCC replicas), family pics, DVD collection (everything ranging from Scooby Doo, to Stephen King movies, to the Godfather trilogy), and candles.
