There
On a serious note though, I originally have P&R Talk as a sub-forum of General. Do you think those sub-forums should be put under "Community Talk" directly? (Along with F&S Talk)

Well, what I was thinking was that General Discussions is already kinda the "fun discussions" thing already. If it's split then yeah, it ought to be its own subcategory of Community Talk, leaving General Discussions the "fun" one. Just makes sense, you have general, more specific, and the noob channel.

James,
Why not instead of calling it General Discussions, to call it something like "The Lounge"?

The "Water Cooler", sounds like a seinfeld moment.

Thanks for stickying the thread (whoever it was, even though I didn't have to ask ).
Anyway, I don't have the edit powers anymore, in case anyone else had some minor changes, I don't know if I can have them for longer or not, though (due to security reasons).

Nah, then you'd have to call it "Talk about Nothing."

I think that a forum maybe under the same category as web and blog talk shoudl be forum talk. This way fellow board owners can talk about forums. Being that this site is a one stop for all of a webmasters needs, forums and communities are a big part of many sites these days. So it would be nice to have somewhere to talk about software, getting guests into registered users and such.
But just my own 2 cents

The CMS forum idea is a good one. That would move those discussions out of HTML and CSS.

I also wanted to say that *if* this is the way general discussions is going to remain organized, then maybe we should put the "News and Suggestions Talk" category underneath Community Talk (so there's four forums there rather than having two categories with two forums each).

That's probably a good idea. Might do it.
And I'll probably add a CMS forum shortly.

Community Talk- General Discussions (or The Lounge, for fastreplies)
- Fun and Story Talk
- (Possibly Politics and Religion Talk, or as Tim likes to say: The Seventh Level of Hell)
- Miscellaneous Web Talk (I think Dave likes it here better)
- New Member Introductions
Webmaster-Talk Forum News and Suggestions- News and Announcements
- Suggestions and Feedback
- Report PM or Email Spam
- Confidential Talk
|
I'm not sure that adding the forums under Forum News and Suggestions to the Community Talk is good. The difference between the two forums is that the Forum News and Suggestions is only for threads about this forum (like news about WT, announcements about or from WT, and suggestions for WT) while the Community Talk could be about any thing, place, or site.
If they were together, it may confuse their purposes and we'd probably get more "outside" news posted in the wrong forum (which could be handled by not allowing thread origination by anyone other than the staff) or we would get suggestions for things not necessarily related to Webmaster-Talk.
