Dear Friends,
I need your advice!
My background is in sales/marketing and my girlfriend is a very talented web designer =)
We think we are a good team: I can come up with good content and she can create nice looking web sites!
We would like to start creating sites with niche content where income would come from affiliate marketing.
I would greatly appreciate any advice from experts in this field on how to get started, what we should concentrate on, what type of things to avoid, etc.
We have a good background but we are complete beginners! Also, we don't expect to get rich from this, we would be happy even if we make an extra $1000 a month.

Create website, put it online and then promote and advertise it until you’ll
see people coming to you from around and start offering to you their money.

I hate to break the news, but $1,000 a month really isn't small potatoes.

What ideas are you playing with? What types of background do you have? What things are the two of you experts in?

Learning Newbie,
I said "even $1000 a month" from a standpoint that where we live $4000-5000 a month goes towards living expenses.
I came here to see if this forum can help me come up with good ideas. A lot of people are offering general advice which is usually common sense but I am still not sure what to do... specifically!

I already know about what you said in your post. I meant *what kind* of web site, where to advertise, etc.

Are you asking advice on which niche market to get in? Or are you wanting to start a website selling websites for niche marketing?

There seems to be quite a few people that start a website on just about anything and everything and then sell them even before they have made money. You might even find a few in our Websites For Sale forum. You might be able to do that, but you'll have to make a lot of nice websites in order to make some money.

I don't know if anyone can give you specifics yet. I'm not sure that we understand what you're asking. See above.
