I can't say why this is wonderful and exciting, because of a non-disclosure agreement. But it's promising to be the best thing since sliced bread.
Spam is a problem in every corner of the web. Akismet is great at blocking comment spam to blogs. You can actually use them when other spam-detection needs come up. Maybe you want to make a feed reader that doesn't download spam comments from other peoples' sites who don't moderate. Or you use a platform other than wordpress.

This is php, but .net is available, too. And with the example they give, it's easy enough that you could port to just about anything. |
