The Beatniks were a peaceful group, used to see them at the Chicago Art Institute, some of the Beatniks weren't all Writers but Artists as well, the Hippies were the rowdy ones, turned things upside down, some things for the good though. In the 50's it wasn't cool to be a Beatnik. I have always been a Beatnik, did you ever stop to think Ed you might be one too? It's just not the 50's era...

well I guess I have that side of me. I read a lot of Kerouac in my early twenties and it really resonated with my world view... I've certainly traveled a lot, though not hitchhiking or anything like that... I'm a pretty non conforming person too I guess - spent much of my life in the "underground"

All kidding aside, most people nowadays are Beatniks, free spirits, think for themselves, we have the Hippy movement to thank for that, turned everything upside down and got us out of this Puritan style type thinking or control.

Very true! I like to live kinda like an international bum - Spain is the third country other than my homeland of England that I've lived in now... I wonder where I'll end up next?

Its interesting to see though that a lot of people these days seem to be reverting to the puritan type of thought...

Why don't you try the US next? People might still have some Puritan type ideas, however, there is no going back to the way it was, who would want to anyhow...

The US is one of the countries I've already lived in! I was in NY and loved it. I'd like to live there again, and I've got a green card app in, based on my half sister being American... It's been a few years though, still waiting! I really fancy somewhere really different next time though, maybe Iceland

Parking Meter

I originally wrote that for a poetry class back in college, and revised it a few times since.

Iceland sounds very interesting, I wouldn't mind seeing Iceland myself, but only for a holiday though. How's your sister doing? Last time you mentioned sister, I believe she was going through police training.

Ahhhh the poem is precious Tim, very creative, but sadden me too, the poor thing, standing there all alone. Sure enjoyed the poem though! Thanks for sharing!

Well, I just checked my e-mail & as always I won like 6 lotteries & inherited a few million from 3 dead relatives. The funny thing about it this time was that 3 of the lotteries came from different (free) e-mail address & 2 of the inheritances also came from 2 different (Free) e-mail address. (Yahoo / Hotmail / Gmail), Ok, so that wasn't the funny part, the funny part is that even though they came from different people, the actual content of the e-mails were Identical all the way down to the typo's.

Do these e-mail scammers have a private club with a database that offers them all the same scam letters to choose from?

Maybe a site with a "Suggested Scam of the Day" on the home page that encourages them all to use it?

Are these scammers so mentally retarded that they don't realize that other people aren't as retarded as them & see right through the scam that's been circulating many years now?

These people crack me up & annoy me all at the same time.

Just thought I would add a Scammy comment to the thread.

My sis is great thanks, busy and waiting to hear about her police placement... I'll let you know when we know more!

Iceland looks like such a beautiful place, I'm hoping to go for a visit this coming year.
