If I create a PowerPoint presentation and use any kind of fancy fonts will a computer that does not have those fonts still recognize the font or do I need to use a common one like Times Roman, Arial, Courier etc?

Second question is can a computer that has no powerpoint program even play a presentation? I need to make a slideshow that will allow someone on any PC to be able to see the slideshow. I saw there was an option to publish the presentation as a PDF but the people Im giving this to will be elderly and will not have acrobat or flash players on their computer, nor would I expect them to update to get it. What are my options here? All help and suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

I would assume implementing it on a website would do the trick.

Also, no, the person that you give it to does not need the fonts to view them.

1. use fonts that can be read by the audience
2. you should have powerpoint program in order for you to run your presentation

Holy thread revival batman.

To add some input, I already handled this and PowerPoint 03 allows you to create a slideshow presentation that can be viewed on a machine that does not have powerpoint installed on it. You can burn it on a CD and have it set to auto run. So when the person runs the CD the slideshow starts right up. And if used in this format the person's machine does not have to have your specific fonts installed to see them presented correctly. On a side note you can export the presenation as a PDF, of course your paging ability is gone.
