It feels like time to euthanize Forrest. I got a flu shot in November, which was supposed to be especially well matched to the strain going around this year. Apparently there's another super strain from the east coast going around, and apparently it makes life miserable.

I need to go put the fire in my eyes out, but I'm curious how well they work for other people?

I got a flu shot in November and in December I got the stomach flu. I hadn't had a stomach flu in 13 years, but I get a flu shot every year. I have to say that most years I do not get a flu. There are a lot of different types of flu and no shot works against them all.

I have gotten mine every year for a long while except this one. I haven't had the flu in 8 years.

The vaccine wasn't as effective this year.

It is developed every year early and is an educated guess. This year the flu mutated too much.

They are free here and i've had them for years, but then stopped and i've been fine..I don't think I will be getting anymore.

I never gotten a flu shot. It has about six or seven years since I last had the flu. I don't know about flu shots. I think the fact that most bad outbreaks of the flu happen right after most people get their flu shots is a mighty strange coincidence. Anyway, the shots were no help at all for the strain of flu that is going around here this year. Tamiflu does help if you get on it fast enough, but I have heard that it will eventually quit being effective because the virus is becoming resistant to it.

I am the last person who will get flu when the whether changes, last time I got flu is last Christmas.

To dispel a myth: you can't get the flu from a flu shot. The flu shot contains a dead virus. You get sick from a live virus.

Some people can feel a little bad for a few days afterwards because when the shot is given your antibodies attack it and become resistant to it. Which gives a person the protection from the live virus.

Flu shots are better are preventing complications of the flu (pneumonia, hospitalization, and death) than they are at preventing the illness itself. I got my flu shot this year but still got a nasty case of flu a few weeks back. I'll still keep getting my shot every year.

It's an injection that gives you the virus (weakened version) which your anti-bodies/white blood cells attack and find out how to destory it. So if you came into contact with the virus again you would not get sick (badly).

I get my jabs (shots), in my view "provention is better then cure".

Yeah except the shot is not a guaranteed thing; my grandmother got the flu shot every year and got the flu a few times too.

I wanted to, but I didn't. And I didn't get the flu because I worked indoors most of the time.

For about a decade or so I used to get the shots and I never got sick. For the last 3 years or so I didn't get the flu shot and still I never got sick.
