I always thought that was stupid and pointless. I mean, I can just go grab the CD I want to listen to, right? I even finally got to the point of digitizing all my CDs into mp3 files so I don't have to go find the disc I want to hear. What could radio possibly offer me, but annoying DJs and commercials.
But then I just found out you can listen to NPR on the web. This is great because, well, given how much I love the radio, I don't own one. Mine broke maybe 6 months ago, and I never got around to fixing or replacing it. I'd always mean to, driving home, having an NPR moment in the driveway, and thinking how I really ought to be able to hear the end of Nina Totenberg or Ira Glasser or Terri Gross's story without being in the car.
Do you listen to internet radio or subscribe to podcasts? If so, what do you listen to?

I listen to Sirius online sometimes when I'm at work. At home I usually listen to my MP3's.

I'm not much of a radio listener. I find that even stations I do like just play the same music over and over again. Years ago I would have my alarm set to the local station here in Boulder. Naturally I woke up at the same time every day to get to work on time. The station was playing the exact same song every morning. Sure they didn't repeat songs for the day, but they repeated the entire days programming the next day.
Another story of bad radio programming. I can't even begin to tell you how many times I'm listening to a station in the car and when the song ends I flip to another station only to find it's playing a song by the same band. I'd swear they listen to each other and say "Oh those guys just played some Zeppelin. We better get some on next." I've even heard two stations playing the same song at the same time about 3 seconds apart. I did have fun flipping back and forth while they were.
Now having said that I would think I could find stations online that I would like and that cater to the music I listen to. I've just gotten away from thinking of the radio when I want to hear music so it'll take me some time before I search out some stations.

I listen to NPR online. NPR is the only radio I listen to, even in the car.

I've only ever used their 24 hour program and news streams. Is it possible to listen to A Prairie Home Companion over the net when I miss a whole weekend?

I have a few picks:
I love to listen to some somaFm [ http://www.somafm.com ] feeds, particulary "Secret agent", "sapce station" and "beat blender".
Otherwise, when I want something a bit more funky, I go to "le funk boat" [ http://lefunkboat.com/ ].
There is another radio I did listen from time to time in the past that programmed only "free" artists: epiphany radio [ http://www.epiphanyradio.org/ ]
And if you like a soft, smooth and easy listening background, you can try blue mars radio or cryosleep (both on the same server) [ http://bluemars.org/ ].
I sometime like to listen to the sleep bot to: [ http://www.sleepbot.com/ambience/broadcast/ ]
No need to say that what I've listed here, I never heard any of those tune on any "aired" radio. That's why I like to listen to the web radios.
And the cd, you ask ? The last one I buyed was the 1st album of Gnarls barkley. That was something refreshing. But it was almost 3 years ago...
I like to be suprised by the music I listen to. So, a web radio with alternative tunes is just what I like to listen.

I agree wholeheartedly, why waste time listening to fifteen minutes of music an hour when you can just listen to everything via iTunes, CD's, etc.

I listen to a Shoutcast station called X.FM (or Channel X). It's an alternative rock station that plays a lot of awesome music.
I often listen to it on my Chumby.

Really, you don't need more than a computer with Internet and speakers. And you might want an application like Windows Media Player, VLC, or Winamp too.
