Yes Dave I understand...may have a lot to learn, but I'm reasonably intelligent so I'm sure diagrams wont be necessary when explaining something to me! Hope I have'nt tested your patience by making you reply in a way that you think may not be understood

It's just really nice to be understood!!! But it might be dangerous for you to admit you understood those ramblings, hehe.
Ask away!!!!!!!! (WV'ian slang for go fer it, lol!)

I won't edit it. You've already done the dangerous thing by admitting to understanding the ramblings of someone admittably hard to understand. Understand?
I'm just gloating that someone admitted that they understood me because of so many that say they don't. So now, you've been labeled in the same way that I have been labeled and am no longer by myself. You and me (and maybe Drache too, hehe) are in the same labeled group now. No getting out of it!
Ah oh, you got a comment out of me, didn't you? You sneaky, too, but I like you anyway! And it's still good to be alive!

After that statement, you definitely fit in this "elite" group. I know Drache understands, whether she admits it or not. The first meeting of the group will have to be in Australia; don't forget your fishing rods.
I wouldn't make a good fish; I'd probably bite on just empty, shiney hooks, lol!
But I do love bass fishing!

Woooohoooo!!!! Party at my place...I mean meeting. I'll have all the gear ready to go & the nets out (crab season, yum!). Drache...you can use my other Uglystick & I'll give Dave the Kmart kids rod. It would ice the cake to out post and out fish the grand poobah of our "elite" group!!!
Take care

You mentioned Kmart kids rod....
Well, I showed up at a Bass Tournament. My partner and I was in his Stratos, and we pulled up to the blast off line. Right before the horn, I stood up in the boat and yelled out that I had my secret weapon and we were gonna' win. Then I held up my Kmart Snoopy kids spincast rod and reel. We got a big round of laughs and applause.
By the way, we won the tournament that day. And my partner also won the Big Bass Award. Didn't use Snoopy, but I think I should have taken it to some of the other tourneys.

Hey Dave!
*You mentioned Kmart kids rod....*
hahaha.....Why is this so?!!!! Funny you should mention this strange phenomena, I never leave home without my daughters rod. Doesn't even have a brand name, has never been disassembled or cleaned and the fibre washers are non-existent but we've always pulled in something! Even whilst running from the tide last trip, Jessica caught a great double header of King George whiting. Had to pull them in by hand as anything weighing more than a goldfish causes the drag to let go.
* Deb realises how slack she is, races to the shed & starts major rod maintenance*
We dont have Bass in this state but I hear they're a great fighting fish to catch. Have caught a few Golden Perch & Catfish that I've been able to run to the pub and brag about & love to go trolling for the elusive Murray cod (pity they are so d*** elusive!)
Take care

IMHO, Bass fishing is the best of fresh water fishing. I haven't done much pier, surf, or deep sea fishing so I can't give a big opinion on those.
I think I've caught just about every type of fish that are indigenous to this area (trout, walleye, sauger, perch, pike, catfish, carp, strippers, hybrids, various pan fish, bass, etc.), but my favorite is bass. From smallmouth to largemouth, they seem to me to be the wariest and hardest fighting around.
I don't care much for throwing out bait and waiting for something to find it, and don't care much for trolling (particularly on lakes and rivers). But I love to put on the lure, entice that bass into thinking there's something great to eat, tease 'em, get that nibble, then set the hook, and fight 'em home. Most of our fishing is catch-n-release. Ah, there's great memories.
Sorry to go on like that, but Deb started it.

Hey, Miss Deb,
When you get to the States and if I am still here on Pier 50 in San Francisco, not far from the new Pac Bell ball park, you can do some great fishing. It might not be as much fun since its alot safer, but we get stripers, sturgeon, rays (from 6 to 150lbs), kingfish, perch, leopard shark, white seabass, and 2 kinds of crab. Just walk out the door and throw in a line. We have extra poles and parking (for the ball park). Sounds like one h*** of a mis-adventure, glad you're both ok. The only time I almost lost a car like that was in a marina parking lot that was empty at the time. When I got back from the band that was playing, the tides had given new meaning to the name "bath-tub porche" Later dragonladyd
