So, do you guys run apache or php on your home computer?

I used to do this, but I don't any more, simply because I reformatted.

I am looking for a good server program / group of programs that will help me install PHP , MYSQL, a MAIL client, and others all in one package.

Thanks,
Matt

I use an application called AppServ for my PHP/MySQL testing purposes. It comes with Apache, php, mysql and phpmyadmin.

Excellent one click install package

Yeah, I am talking about Windows here... Windows XP Home and/or Professional.

It would be nice if it was free, or if paid, then not too expensive.

I've tried, but it wasn't worth it. There wasn't really a point. I did back when I had dial-up and wasn't online constantly, but now that I have DSL, there's no point.

Well I've got some really server intensive scripts and I don't want to run them on my server. i can just run them on my computer at home.

So which is the BEST one? Sounds like 4-5 were mentioned but I dont want to install all of them. Any good recommendations?

Thanks,
matt

I've used PHPTriad and xampp. Both do the job well, prefer xampp though as it has the latest versions of everything.

Well, depends what you want really. IB server has the following packaged in with it:
- apache
- php
- mysql
- phpmyadmin

It seems to just lack the mail client you are looking for.

Thanks,
Matt

I used to use EasyPHP and it was working great. I also used to have a Linux with Apache.

Now I don't use any of them anymore, I do all my test directly on the "online" server.

I have apache, PHP & mysql installed. I didn't hear of the packages, so I spent a whole day installing and troubleshooting it last year. Works fine though and I use it a lot of the time for testing sites. Also use it to run my own vB copy so I can skin forums.
