Forums
would definitely be better. Using
talk
for forum names are a bit played out and only sounds good when it's at the beginning of the domain name IMO.

I actually have both, but the
keyword
talk.com is shorter and easier to remember.
So in that sense, doesn't the length of the name come into play?

I'd always go with talk.
Fact is forum is longer and people will always have the question "Is it forum or forums?" etc

Yes, but one character rarely matters.
I'd say get them both.

Register all of them, decide on one to brand and redirect the others onto it. Don't leave your future competition any quality domains to registerd.

Yeah, but I don't think that's an accurate way to annalyze... I mean, forum is so general. It really depends on the keyword, I think.

Do you own forum.com and forums.com? If you don't own both I would use "Talk".
Just my 2 cents. You don't want to send traffic to another guy just because a member leaves of an s from the domain name.
