We all know about Myspace and some of us may even make money off the name. What many don't know is just exactly how Myspace.com started and just how powerful they are today. It is actually quite scary when you read about the information that this group of people have on 30% of the U.S. Population.

It doesn't surprise me at all how the founders can come off as shady. Tom looks like a guy that would be into spyware, I never liked him.

Interesting. While it might be "shady" or "unethical", I wouldn't hold it against them.

+1 ditto ..i mean this is all told after the story of their success ..

If he turned bum, theyd highlight all the 'great' things they did in his career to try and make it ..

Sounds like a real good opportunity to use 30% of the populations demographic information for something profitable.

MySpace gets people in trouble too. Advertising on there site is not permitted unless you pay them to put a link at the top of there page.

Many people are having trouble with internet predators talking to there kids too. I wouldn't be surprised if MySpace shut down.

I have found the site VERY usefull for my band, haven't spent more than a few minutes on my personal site.

There are some growning pains, such as the bad code and services that dont seem to work right. But I assume for the most of the users that dont know what the right mouse button does, it looks just fine.

Has anyone ever felt like MySpace is just AOL all over again?

I remember having a lot of the stuff they have on MySpace back in 1995 on AOL. Not to mention MySpace is very much a closed community like AOL was. Everything is about promoting within the space and not on the rest of the Internet.

Dunno, just strikes me the same thing all over again. Too bad one of us wasn't smart enough to see it coming..... :-)
