I was wandering, what makes a good plan for a website? What kind of descriptions and other documents should I have in my plan?

Sorry, didn't know where to post this so posted it here.

I'm sure many others can help you out more than myself but here's how I would go about it.

First off, you need to know exactly what your site will include...
What are you going to attack with the content?
What are you plans to get the site to spread?
You need something that people would be interested in so what will it be?
If you have an advertising budget, how you're going to spend that?
What kind of content could you possibly expand on down the road?
How much is it going to cost for development?
How will you recieve a decent ROI?

There are many other factors you need to look into but with any site, without traffic you cannot make money. You need to attract visitors to the site somehow. Like it's been said many times before, Content is King!

just to add to Ryans post make sure you do the research on your competition. its always good to see what your market is doing. then you can either improve the subject or find what theyre not doing.

What audience are you going to be attacking is what I really meant. Meaning, is your audience big enough for you to spend time on what you plan on creating?
