Two biggies have decided to join forces rather than compete and name a new CEO. Read all about it.

Whoa... my reseller account is under ThePlanet and I didn't even hear about this...

I wonder if the pricing will get even better too?

It's kind of funny, but there was a Press Release on The Planet back from May on this. I was really shocked no one noticed until now.

I noticed this back in May as well and am interested to see where this leads...I have 7 dedicated boxes with The Planet at this time.

Hopefully this will make their services even better and maybe even cheaper. There is still plenty of competition out there to keep them on their toes.

The news scared me after I read John Scott's blog post:

I agree with that Blog Post.

I love the Planet, but I avoid EV1 like the plague.

I don't know why I didn't put 2 and 2 together. It is starting to make sense why a big part of The Planet staff broke off and formed their own company. AKA http://www.softlayer.com/

I've heard a lot of good things about SoftLayer. My next server will probably be with them.

from what i heard in the past ev1 never had good service and i think the planet is not much different. i currently have VPS @ powervps but looking to move to a managed dedicated box very soon. i will definately check out softlayer since their prices seem to be decent.

I use powervps as well. Have you looked into their Dedicated VPS server? It's a bit pricey, but it has all the benefits and features of VPS and no other customers on the box.

by dedicated vps do you mean their power3 package? right now i have power1 and on monday my server almost crashed due to too many active processes. i will probably move to power2 and stay with that for a month or two then i will move into power3 or just get a fully dedicated & managed box.

LOL! Actually, they do a really bad job of selling their own products.

Like I said, a bit pricey, but with their awesome support and the virtualization backup features of Virtuozzo, I would pay the extra money if I had it.
