Harddrive, motherboard, processor, memory and a graphics card unless there is one built onto the motherboard, same with the sound card.

Then you are just looking at a case, power supply, disc drives and any extras you may need.

Finally a question I can answer,

You need six basic componets

1. Power supply
2. Motherboard (assume it has onboard video)
3. Cpu w/fan
3. Memory/Ram
5. Monitor
6. You

This list makes a basic basic computer, but its a pain to use without part # 7, a case to mount all our parts in.

Cool!, now we are getting somewhere.

Now if we want to actully do something useful with the computer we need parts # 8,9 a keyboard and mouse. They really are easyer that trying to use ESP to make changes on the screen.

We are almost done, part # 10 & 11 is helpful really helpful, a hard drive to store all the cool stuff we save and download then never look at again, and a DVD or CD drive to load up the software we use..

Part #12 helps us put this all together but, Its also can be the biggest problem too. We need an OS - AKA Operating Sytem. Linux, window xp, Mac OS X, OS2 warp , (Ok, just kidding on the last one, but I do have one customer who still use OS2 warp, dont think I don't want to run and hide everytime she calls)

OK thats it we have a computer. its complete and really for all the cool add ons and bling bling that make our days better such as,

printers
scanners
Speakers (Yeah baby Tunesunk: )
other cool software
a alot of suger and caffine

and don't forget the most important part of all. ASPRIN, or the pain releaver of your choice, your going to need it.

Ok, that my answer. What did you ask again?

P.S. sorry about the bad spelling, I'm a hardware guy not a english major.

Well that's true.. but there are other ways plugging it in...

There are these days in africa laptops for the poor regions that work like a dynamo... people have to wind up a handle for 5min, and will then be able to use the laptop for 30min :detective:

You people sure are helpful...

1. CPU
2. Motherboard
3. RAM
4. Hard drive
5. Video Card
6. Sound Card
7. Power Supply
8. Case
9. CD drive. I'd just get a dvd burner.

Pcmech.com is a good website for these things.
