Hi,

As you all no doubt know google is going through some odd changes at the moment.

On most of the forums I read, I'm tending to find that all the threads are webmasters saying "I've lost 80% traffic" and not many people saying things have improved.

Matt Cutts has said it's to do with the new Algo coming out, just about everyone seems to say he's talking poop

So how are the people on here doing, have your sites improved of fell off the face of the planet?

For me, things have been looking up, you can actually find my main site in google now, some DC's are showing my main keyword at position 30 (ish) out of 16 million so for me this whole algo change/new structur seems good. Am I alone?

My sites continue to improve as always, didn't encounter any drops so far. Even sites which use Linkvault or Coop are still improving.

Google looks like there still in the pits. For example, the site:domain.com search is broken on google.com but normal in the datacenters, and then there's the massive seven billion pages of SPAM trouble that SPAMoogle had. Now it looks like there much better at fixing that, after a wacko exposed that over at DP.

It seems there is always somewhere flinging them selves from high rooftops screaming, "google dropped my traffic by 80%", same thing has happened to me on three occasions.

The solution, find what caused it and fix it.

Google is not our *****. Google is our customer. Sometimes they decide to take their custom elsewhere.

Make sure you have more than one customer and treat them all like gold.

I don't know of anyone who has stopped using google because site:domain.com is broken, sure it's annoying for a webmaster but I doubt it will affect the share price.

Google has made me a lot of money in the past so I'm not complaining.

I've noticed very little effects from any recent changes. BAU (business as usual)

People rarely post just to say they have improved but they come out in swarms when free traffic disappears, I am having the best month on record and traffic is as good as ever.

My sites have been doing fine in Google.

Google accounts for 28% of my traffic on one site.

I do think things are kind of a mess over there right now, though.

It appears to me that google is moving away from the stagnant rankings that have seemed to exist in the past. I am actually seeing new additions to a site getting tons of traffic, and after a short search realizing that the short title of the topic has the site ranking 4th in google after two weeks of existence.

I don't know if things like this will continue, but they just seem to be taking an approach similar to MSN for getting new content ranked much quicker than I have seen in the past.

Does this have something to do with an effort to bury static "made for adsense" sites?

Google PR updates are a joke. I have a brand new site with a PR3 with 10 back links showing in Google. My biggest site with over 1,000 back links showing in Google also has a PR3.

What kind of logic is that?

I'm starting to lean toward MSN and Yahoo as my best sources of traffic. Google is just getting too big for their britches and it's getting really hard to work a new site into a good search term position.
