12+ hour days?
|

Everyday, I hear about webmasters that work 13-16 hours per day, and end up making $xx,xxx per month.
I'd really like to be putting in that much work, and reaping those benefits. But to be honest, I haven't the slightest clue what I could be doing for that amount of time.
Could one of the big[ish] earners, please give me an insight into what their day entails?

Haha, 13-16 hour days? Try more like 19-20 hour days. Sometimes I don't even know what sleep is like.
In all honesty, the couple sites that put me in the "black group" run by themselves. I've been taking some vacations recently, and they still make $3000+ / week. And in all honesty, that is really nice... just to be able to sit back and let money come in. Sure, some days are off, some days are on, but it all averages out to be pretty nice.
As far as other work, when I have the time, I spend a lot of time working on future projects, optimization of sites, and getting new ideas out there. Recently, I've been spending a lot of time doing stuff for Earners Forum and my good friend Lee . But when I'm not web designing, I'm working on future ideas. I've got about 5 unique ideas in the works right now, and hopefully I can get them started before August 15, 2006. that's the goal.
I like to consider myself a big(ish) earner, but I ALWAYS have room to improve. I mean, the sky is the limit, literally. Honestly, it's how EFFICIENTLY you use your time. If I had no internet, no IM, and no email, I could get 10 times the amount of work done. I mean, someone on these boards went to a cabin in the woods for a month just to push out a project. It can be done, it's all a matter of how well you spend your time.
One of the biggest things I've learned is that time is one of the most important things you have. You can have a ton of money, but it won't buy you more time in the day. There are only 24 hours. Yup, I've double checked 15 times, but unfortunately there's only 24 hours. Now, it boils down to how well you manage and use that 24 hours. Being most productive is very hard at times, but managing your time will save you thousands, literally. (if you do it right)
Just my 0.02 worth of a post for ya :-d

It's fortunate for those that don't have to put in much time and make money. That's definitely not the case with me.
Email takes up too much of my time. I spend a lot of time reading submissions, making lists, checking off lists, writing, editing, submitting, publishing, creating, researching, taking notes, networking, testing, learning, etc etc.
I love what I do and the time passes quickly.

I put in at least 12 hours a day, but I don't mind because I'm passionate about it . It makes all of the difference.
What do I do? Write articles, build site templates, script sites, buy/sell domains, design new sites, refine ideas... there's never a time when I have nothing to do.. If I'm not building then I'm learning.
When I first started I spent most of my time learning and a very small amount of time building. As I learned more the ratio started moving in the other direction. Now I'm at about 80% building / 20% learning

There's often a time where I have naught to do, but then again I'm not a big earner.
I push out more ideas than my team can provide, and while they're working on a current site, I've already done all I could on our existing ones as far as optimization and stuff. Therefore, I've started other sites like forums with premade software and WP blogs where I can just write and not need any coders just to push out more projects.

Well I put in a lot of time when I am writing and that is my living right there. I have to update my earnings avatar!
Once I start my Zelda website ( www.hyrulianlegends.com) it will begin to get tougher and my days will start to get longer, but that's all hard work and it pays off in the end. Feel free to visit the site once it's live.

I estimate I put 2 to 3 hours a day into the web. Usually between 10p to 2am...
But I have responsibilities, so sometimes laundry  becomes more important then writing an other article... or researching a key phrase.
Which explains why I am not in the "black group". How I dream of that black group. Sigh...:helpsmilie:

I would say at least half my time is reading and researching and the rest creating.
The web moves so quickly that you have to be up on current developments.

I have two questions, please!
1- Are those sites forums or other content sites?
2- Do they make $3000+ / week only from AdSence?

I don't think there is a very strong statistical corelation between hours spent working and online revenue. . It isn't about working harder but working smarter.
