I'm about to take my first vacation since becoming a full time webmaster and the slowing of my work-pace has prompted some reflection.

Three full weeks of fun at the beach.....and I can take my entire business with me in a laptop case.

The freedom this profession affords is astounding. I could choose to never come back and be just fine. When I set this as a goal I knew it would come but I had no idea how sweet it would really feel.

We have no 'proverbial' boss to answer to
We can set our own hours
We get to choose and fully manage our own projects and goals
We can earn as much or as little as we please
We can spend as much time with our families as we please
We can travel where we want, when we want, for as long as we want
We can dress, look, speak, and act however we please

How many other professions can make these claims?

I think Think means when you work for a company, it doesn't matter how hard you work, you will never get payed more. Unless you get promoted ofcourse, but there's a limit.
When you work online, you can earn more and more, if you keep working harder and learn more. There is no limit.

no matter what time is it, its never night here, unless your site is targetted to a particular region there will always be someone visiting ur site and so u don't have to sleep

I have to agree with the "pack your whole business in a laptop case" aspect the most. It is great to pick where you want to work each day. Tired of the home office? Head to wherever you feel like working that day. Unlimited choices with an EVDO phone and USB cable :-)
