and tell me what ads you see, YPN or Adsense?

I have been getting reports that it was showing YPN ads to non-US users but I want to make sure.

I used a proxy located in Algeria, and it only showed the Google Adsense ad. The YPN ad wasn't visible.

Using my normal IP (located in the US), I see YPN ads.

This is probably because you have the Adblock extension enabled in FireFox.

How exactly do you tell where the user comes from? Do you use a GeoIP database or an external service? Or something else?

Yes, I use a GeoIP database that determines if the IP is based in the US or outside the US and then shows the ad.
