So I have a site (www.bandoftheweek.com ). I know that design isn't 'beautiful' or anything, but I'm still learning. I'm about to purchase a vbulletin license, do you think I should use a vbadvanced to manage my site? As I learn I will probably make my own design again. I'm pretty sure I can make a vBulletin skin though, it's just the php/features that will help me out.
Nah, for a site like that, I'd go with Joomla or Wordpress for the content management. Both are pretty easy as far as integrating your own design goes..
Nah I don't really like that, thanks for the suggestions though. I want the blocks, as well as other features it provides. I'm not too sure though, but I do want the vbulletin license for sure.
stick with joomla, for this kindof project joompla has everything you need and more, it is very easy to install and admin. adding new modules and themes(there are thousands for free out there) is very easy. and performance of this cms is ver good as well. strongly advise you to go on with joomla
There are 3 column joomla templates. I've used one before. I might have found it on joomla-templates.com ... I don't really remember, just google free joomla templates.
Well since many people are suggesting it I will take a deep look into Joomla, thanks for the replies.
By the way, I haven't seen any 3 column templates, is there any?
Joomla is VERY easy to template. For example, if you're already using your 3 column design, all you would need to do is insert the module positions in each column (left, mainbody, right, etc). From there, the modules will load in the columns they're assigned to.
Right now I installed vbadvanced as a temporary solution but currently practicing with Joomla, it's sooo confusing seriously. I already have a good template though, I just need to get used to the panel, which I didn't really like.
