I'm curious to see how many of the members here at EF, own an iPod? I personally do not have one. I agree they are sleek and sexy and innovative, but can be quite expensive. (in terms of adding the songs)

I went with the iRiver. Has good hd, pictures, fm radio ( can record off of it), digital voice recorder etc etc. Costs like 380$ but well worth it.

I'd go with teh iRiver over the iPod. It's my small protest against Apple's draconian DRM policies. Plus I think the iRiver's are better anyway.

I used to own an iPod, but it broke and I sold it. I really, really want to buy a new one, but I can't bring myself to spend the money on it.

I did buy my girlfriend one, though, and she absolutely loves it.

Get a CD Player (around $20-30), purchase blank CDs (around $5), burn music. Much cheaper than purchasing an MP3 Player! Same functions. Maybe an MP3 Player has calendar, video, etc. I don't see my self ever using these features though. I like playing around with new technology, but an iPod is expensive and CD Player is cheaper. I sold my "free" iPod on eBay after receiving it.
