Personally, I'm split on this... I mean, I hate cybersquatters, but if the name was used in a non mass-traffic/spam generator way, I think it would have been fine (if that made sense).

It's about time cybersquatters started to lose their domains. Too many of the good domains aren't being used for the right reasons.

Finally, this has been going on for awhile now. I heard about it since last year.

The other interesting one is gonna be the Nissan.com one.

Surprising how many famous people don't actually know, or care, who uses their name for redirects/making money.

My niece is one of the most famous women athletes on the planet, and some guy bought her name in 2000 for commercial purposes(adsense, now). I've rtried to get her to reclaim it, but she just doesn't seem to care.

Last time I checked, there were over 100k searches per month for her. Cruise obviously didn't care until recently, as well.

Go figure.

Meh, not sure what I think about this.

What if TomSmith.com is currrently is a porn site, and my name is Tom Smith and I don't want people to think that I am somehow affiliated?

Where is the line drawn, is it only because Cruise is famous?

I'm sure there's another Tom Cruise out there....

That's a good question. I'm curious to know WIPO's policy on such cases involving names.
