I always have designers / coders IM'ing me asking that. It gets to me. I admit, when I was first starting I sort of did that, but only to people I'd worked with before, and knew that normally had work. I don't even know this guy.
This is why I have my IM set so that only people in my buddy list can contact me. Maybe you should do the same. (Unless you're using your screenname for business)

That's what I have. I only add a person's screenname if they contact me by other means (email or PM).
I had a guy that IMed me a few months back begging to do anything for money. I didn't have any jobs at the moment though.. heh.
I have a constant stream of beginner freelancers asking to work for me, or if I want to buy domains or templates. It did used to get frustrating....but then I remembered I was once one of them. I try to offer advice, a point in the right direction
