Hi all after a little help.

I got a Conceptronic 54Mbps USB adapter for my PC to try and setup a wireless network, PC to Laptop only, idea is the Laptop can have access to the internet through PC via network.

I followed the distructions and installed the software and drivers, connected the UBS adapter but all I'm getting is a symbol with a cross so it's not connected, tired changing the settings on both laptop and PC but now the Laptop is doing the same.. nothing seems to work.

I've never really looked into wireless lan's before (should of stuck cables and a switch) so looking for advice on how to get this stupid thing working.

Router plays a large role.. Sounds like you only have the wireless adapter. Not the wireless router.

Usually, these things (wireless routers) come operational out of the box. That being said:

If you have a red "X" in the system tray (or control panel), you may need to right-click and enable the network adapter.

They're usually pretty straightforward. The tricky part can be enabling encryption, etc.

Hope that helps.
