In terms of productivity I find Mac OS X to be the best. PC has advantages over Mac in a few areas such as gaming, but when it comes to developing, designing, and general use— I love my Mac. Thankfully you can run Windows for those times you need it in Mac OS X at full speed now thanks to Parallels software.

Hosting is a different story. I usually use a flavor of Linux or FreeBSD here.

Yeah, there are pros and cons with each of them, you just have to find the best one for you.

I think a small problem with the Macs is the price.

Price is definitely a barrier for me getting a Mac. I have fallen in love with my fiancee's PowerBook, and I have a feeling I'm going to end up getting one.

There is some getting used to making the jump from PC to Mac, user interface wise -- but I think most will like the changes.

I do most of my hosting on the *nix side of the house - it just feels better. Running Apache on Windows is a lesson in trying to drive a nail through steel with a counterfeit Nalgene bottle...

Slightly off topic but if any of you are using Macs, here are some great tools that I've found to vastly increase my productivity.

Quicksilver - Essential!! quicksilver.blacktree.com

Textmate - If you do any programming or HTML etc.

VirtueDesktops - Multiple desktops

SSHKeychain - If you do SSH to many servers, saves you from typing passwords

NetNewsWire or NewsFire - RSS Reader

Adium - For chat on any/multiple protocols -- msn, aim, etc.

Parallels - Can be handy if you need to access Windows

iTerm - Terminal

Quicksilver - Thought I'd mention it again!

That's a quick list off the top of my head. I'm sure there are more.

Windows - only used it and it is fine, as for Linux I've got the disk but not yet used it.

Someone else mentioned this as well, but price is really the barrier for a Mac for me too.

I'm using Windows, though I'd like to move to Mac.

I think linux is probably the most stable if properly configured. But it's a pain in the *** to get right =)

I use Windows most of the time

I prefer to use Linux, but it doesn't have the productivity tools that I need (Adobe and Macromedia mostly).

As others have said, Macs are too expensive to be practical. They have less available software, and I don't find that they're faster or more stable, in general.

So I begrudgingly use Microsoft.
