I heard from a friend that on certain cameras you can install hacks onto the camera that up the megapixels... kind of like overclocking. Is that possible?

I have never heard of this, would be kinda cool if you could tho. For some reason I doubt it.

Never heard of that.

I doubt it's possible, though.

The MP on a camera is a mix of hardware and lens if I remember correctly, not a matter of software.

Well I have a friend who turned a 2.7MP into a 3.5MP. i will definitely ask him how he did it and get back to you guys.

Guys, It's totally true.

HOWEVER,

It's not true megapixels. I mean, the extra pixels aren't data, they are extrapolated.
Say you have pixels like this
█████

The hack would ASSUME there is a natural blend in there and then extrapilate accordingly. ie:
█████

This "extra" pixel isn't recorded data, but it appears that your camera is a higher megapixel.

On a somewhat related note, I remember hearing about a guy who hacked a mouse and turned it into a working camera.
