If you have clients, do you try and get to know them and be their friend

or do you just do the work and thats it, dont talk to them after.

Yup. I have one client down in FL, I talk to him all the time just to see how things are, keep up with him. He's been a great client, lots of repeat work and referrals.

If they're returning clients, then yes.

I try to get to know them on a professional level. But I usually try to stay out of the personal stuff. Keeps things professional.

Sure, some are people I already know. Some, I never hear from again. Really a whole range of people.

I don't really like talking to people who are paying me, I am there to do a job and if I am talking to them (in my mind) it makes them think that I am not working.

I do think it is unproffesional, and I am very unsocial :P

I am not trying to make friends with my clients, but of course I treat them friendly and give them the personal service a client should have.

But if I look back I see that quite alot of my "best" clients has become good friends.

I think this depends on what you are doing.

Some businesses dependon returning customers, so you are benefitting yourself by creating a bond. (provided the money is good)

Sure, I keep friendly relationship with them. I have an example which a lot of people might know.

Brandon of cpae. He is the best example of dealing any client of his in friendly manner. He is the one whom I talk on AOL and whom I shared my little knowledge with. In our free time we play Y! Pool.

Uptill now the scores are

Brandon 1 - 1 Haris

I get to know all of my clients. It's better to have a good relationship with them anyways. They are human beings after all. I usually keep in touch with my clients anyhow.

Quite a few of my clients have become friends. I try to get to know my client and let them get to know me, it just builds trust in my opinion and many of my clients are returning customers; so I can't be doing that bad.
