Where would you go to sell a large site?

Hey,
I've been curious of this for a while now, and I might as well ask. Say you have a site that's making thousands a month, and you want to sell it for $1xx,xxx.
What would be the "proper" way of selling it? Would contacting a broker be the right way of doing it? I know there are sites like sitepoint, but not many "big boys" go to the site. Any one want to shed some light on this?

I think it's pointless in hiring a broker unless you don't know much about web publishing or have never sold a site before. Even then, a broker is so expensive for something you can easily do yourself.
Unless the site was selling for $1,000,000+ I'd sell it no different than I do now.
I still think Sitepoint is a wonderful place to sell a site. And I'd post on the other major webmaster forums as well. There are a lot of people who browse these that definitely have the cash.
If I was selling for 6 figures, I'd also consider eBay, although I'm not too sure on that, as I'm not too confortable with it (people complaining it wasn't what they expected, chanaging their minds, etc.) as you rarely get that issue selling on forums.

I wouldn't recommend eBay.
50% of the time you'll get a non-paying bidder, lose huge on the fees, and then you'll have to waste time fighting for ebay for your fees back, and if you're like me you won't leave the guy bad feedback for fear he'll retaliate and ruin your 100% positive and give you a negative feedback lol.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, but I guess if it's good enough for the high rollers, (Lee) it's good enough for me?

I would start out by listing my website in the SitePoint Marketplace. I would use the image which shows the current bid information, and site title, and post the image with the auction link on forums like EarnersForum, DNForum, NamePros, DigitalPoint, Webmaster Forums, Webmaster Talk, DaniWeb, DomainState, and WebHostingTalk.

Sitepoint, Digitalpoint (I sold a site for $xx,xxx on DP pretty fast), and DNForum.

Yep, I'd go with something like that. List it everywhere, more or less.
