Well it seems the member who goes my the name Sobering decided to rip off the design from Nerdpoint.com, while stealing the idea from another site that I'm getting up called Talk Tutorials

People like this disgust me, and I think they have no place in the webmaster community.

It seems that this user has ripped off some of James' designs in the past.

Anyways, that's all I have to say.

Digit - the designs are similar, yes, but not the same. And as for the tutorial idea, you can't "steal" an idea in that aspect, and it isn't all that original.

Those two designs have many distinct differences. As far as the idea, that'd be like saying I am ripping of the "Ford Mustang Community" idea and there should only be one.

I just mentioned the idea as a bonus. I know that doesn't belong to me, but I'm just saying...

As for the design, I realize some aspects are different, but it's more then just inspired. It is also unsettling that this guy has ripped people in the past.

So he doesn't have creativity. It's not against the law. People have ripped my new ideas/layouts in the past. It's a part of life. No need to start throwing mud around to those that do it. Just go about your business and do what you do best. I recently had a popular Mustang Forum censor my url on their entire web site for no better reason than I was competition. Stupid things happen. I got better things to do than throw mud around at them publically though.

It's not part of life, nor should it. As for going about my business: Do you honestly think it's right for this person to be ripping off other peoples work? I for one do not.

Where have all the honest people gone?

His skin is not an exact duplicate. Therefore it is not your work. He took your layout idea and added his touch to it. It's not like he hacked into your site and stole the xml file and uploaded it. He didn't rip your work off.

I realize that he didn't directly take an exact image that I have on my site, but as you said "He took your layout idea and added his touch to it". Is that ethical? He took my design...that's just not right to do. I realize he added "his touches" to it, but he still took my design.

Ethical or not it isn't ripping you off. I even admit to seeing something I like and taking it and molding it to fit into my site. Hell everyone has done it at one time or another I bet

I'm not seeing it...at all. Really. I see blue on both sites...that's about it. Your design isn't exactly complex by any means. It's blue and white boxes. There's no specific element that's unique really in any way. There's nothing to "steal" from your site.

I don't know...maybe you're referring to his rounded blue box at the top...but even that is an EXTREME stretch. He's blue values aren't even the same.

Making a claim like that and calling someone out saying they ripped your design is a very large claim that shouldn't be taken lightly. And in this case I think your claim is highly unwarranted.

Get over it... Its not about the skin ^o) its about the forum too how good it is the members everything, its not a rip it just has some hints from your design, if i was you i would be happy because you've obviously inspired that guy.

It's not a rip, it's over inspired.

Big difference, no borderilne or merging of the matter. Nothing he has done is against the law. Maybe a little bit unethical but boo hoo, the world we live in is one stricken with controversy and political incorrectness.
